Missing Out?
My first born is the cautious type. So much so that she was nine years old before she would truly explore and have fun in the tunnels and tubes of plasticville – you know, The Playland area of your favorite fast food restaurant. Now, I was fine that she never really had an interest because I tend to be a germophobe (that’s a post for another day) and I can only imagine what might be lurking in there. But, I was always a bit sad for her knowing that she was missing out on a lot of fun.
Finally, she gained enough nerve to try it and she discovered that her fears had indeed caused her to miss out on some excitement and adventure over the years. However, at least she made the discovery and perhaps she’ll remember it into adulthood. I was much older and it took a devastating event for me to learn to loosen up, get over my fears, and learn to take some risks. It wasn’t until I lost complete control of my life that I learned to live it – truly live it, not just going through the motions.
How about you? Are you living life with abundance and joy or are your fears dictating your decisions and actions? God doesn’t promise us a life free from pain and suffering, but He does promise that He’ll never leave us and that it will all serve a greater purpose when we’re looking to Him. I guarantee that if you join Him in this journey that He’ll lead you through the adventure of a lifetime. Don’t miss it!
“Just think—you don’t need a thing, you’ve got it all! All God’s gifts are right in front of you as you wait expectantly for our Master Jesus to arrive on the scene for the Finale. And not only that, but God himself is right alongside to keep you steady and on track until things are all wrapped up by Jesus. God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.” 1 Corinthians 1:7 (The Message)
